Your site can vary between fully equipped blacksmith businesses to local Ag fairgrounds. The ability to get out of the weather is required of all locations.
Specialist tooling is provided within 10 hours driving time from Springville, Ca -or by arrangement. Courses requiring an airline flight will have to make provisions to have the specialist tooling shipped, made prior to the course start or included within the course structure. Tools made on-site become the property of the sponsor.
I provide a PDF of a student package detailing personal tool requirements, dress code, safety, waiver etc..
Course fees vary depending upon the duration of the course and travel time from Springville, Ca.
A capped rate allows for 501(c)(3) organizations to offer the course at a reduced rate to their members or bolster the organizations coffers.
INSTRUCTOR COURSES
Educational agencies and ABANA affiliates are free to develop an educational curriculum based upon some or all of the contents of the ‘Skills of a Blacksmith’ text. The subject matter of the text is certainly not copyright and can be adopted by any and all. I do offer instructor training that can help get a program off the ground based upon a 40 hour ‘Mastering the Fundamentals of Blacksmithing’ course. The book (and the future DVDs) acts as a supporting text for that part of a curriculum using book projects. Content and duration of instructor training can vary depending upon the experience level of the participants and the degree of polish that they are seeking in developing their lesson plans. Instructor training takes more time than the base course, for example -a 5-day (40 hour) Mastering the Fundamentals of Blacksmithing course can take 50+ hours to teach as an instructor training.
